Recommend a CCTV server software please?

    Hi all,

Basically I am ready to ditch my analogue>IP standalone server and embrace a proper IP cam configuration. The IP cameras I am planning to buy are of Panasonic's home range.

Also I would like to utilise my WHS box to manage/record them. Does anyone has suggestions on CCTV server software please?

    My criteria would be,
    - Low price, it's for home use afterall
    - Support Panasonic's home IP cams
    - Ability to record
    - Viewable in browser (hopefully without proprietry plugin required)
    - Viewable in mobile browser (not mandatory but would be REALLY nice)
    - Multi-view

    Anyone?

    Many thanks!

If you want an "out of the box" solution then look at iCatcher from iCode. It will tick all the boxes for your requirements - even has an iPhone app for remote viewing I believe. Take a look at their live system. Product website is here

Open source alternatives include Zoneminder (click) and Motion (click). Zoneminder has a nice web interface for administration. Motion is massively customisable but requires a bit of know-how with config files, and has no interface for administration. You'd have to put together your own interface to view the live streams etc.

Can you create an FTP link to WHS if so then it maybe possible to ftp the stream or pictures to the server.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

          Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Finally got myself some cams, will start evaluating soon.

iCatcher looks PERFECT, but is too expensive for me. I for hoping for 8-cam support for less than £100, but apparently the world disagrees with me.

So looks like I'll be getting Zoneminder and start cracking!
