    9kw switching

    Hi Guys,
I have a holiday flat which I use every couple of months. The heating system and hot water system gets its heat from a 9kw electric hot water tank. Essentially this tank is on all of the time.

I don't want to just physically turn it off top safe power. As well as the convenience of having heat when I arrive, I would also want the heating to work if temperatures head to freezing.

I have broadband and wireless in the flat.

I'm looking for a way to turn the 9kw heater on/off remotely using the internet. I have saw some products that can mount directly in the fuse panel but I far as I can tell they can only switch 2kw.

    Does anybody have any ideas.

    Tom

Hi Tom, anything that can be used to switch 2kW can be used to drive the coil of a contactor to switch much higher loads.

If you have something that turns an X10 appliance module on and off you can use that to control the contactor
