    New build Project.

    Gents/Ladies

I am new to this forum, and also HA generally. I have been looking to get a large firm involved with the design and final fix of the system that we are looking at doing. However, the cost of this is huge, although it does mean we have a number of guarantee's in place as a result and if we sell we can put an international name to it... But I am not sure if this is the way to go.

I would like any advise that you would have, TBH to me it seems a rather large project with alot of items that could go wrong but I shall see what you guys feel.

System that we are looking at -

We are looking at having CCTV outside on the farm buildings, Infra-red, and on front door with access from all TV screens. Lighting on the out buildings and on the house we were thinking of having two Wise Boxs set up so we can use a Fob to turn them on and off when we like. (also was thinking that it would be nice to have them connected to main system in the house so that I can turn them on through an Iphone App...Possible?)

Downstairs - Kitchen/family room;- HD TV on the wall, with the ability to use as TV/Camera screen(infra-red out door cams)/PC screen. Iphone docking station.

Drawing room;- HD TV on the wall, with the ability to use as TV/Camera screen/PC screen.

Upstairs;- Master Bedroom; - HD TV on the wall, with the ability to use as TV/Camera screen/PC screen. Iphone docking station.

Bedroom 1;- HD TV on the wall, with the ability to use as TV/Camera screen/PC screen. Iphone docking station

Bedroom 2 - Pc access for office use.

Bedroom 3 Pc access for office use.

Need speakers in rooms with Tvs.

Looking to have security lighting in the house, was thinking of having a timed system, however now that there is a iphone app thought I might as well just use that.

Thinking of having our underfloor heating etc set up into this, as its meant to decrease costs of heating etc... What do you guys think of this, does it save money or is it a waste of money.

Do you guys think this is something I could take on and do it well... I have my own doubts...

If you think I should get a firm in who would you suggest, I am in talks with one market leaders of this industry.. but wondered what your thoughts on who provide the best service is.

Many thanks, and hope I made sense lol.

Everything you describe is possible, its really down to costs.
For video signals, network connections etc a structured wiring solution would probably be the best bet.
    Links for structured wiring
    There is;
    1. Abitana www.abitana.com their main dealer in the UK is www.minitran.co.uk
    1. Lexcom http://www.ibn-01.com/intelligenthome/

There are others, but these are the main players at the moment.
For the automation side of things you have
    1. X10 http://www.x10europe.com/ http://www.letsautomate.co.uk,
    1. Idratek www.idratek.com
    1. Cbus http://www.cbus-shop.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-Bus_%28protocol%29
    1. KNX/EIB http://www.knxshop.co.uk/catalog/frontpage.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KNX_%28standard%29

    Once again there are others.

We did an Abitana install in Madrid and the client had 4 TV channels coming via the Abitana system which had CCTV on one channel, SAT TV on another, And Digital Terestial on another and the DVD in lounge on another. With the built in IR bus in the Abitana systems means all the equipment can still be controlled via IR.
will you be having whole house audio?

      Many thanks for that infomation.

What do any of you know about a Wise box.

Would it be possible to link this type of lighting controller into a main system that I would have in the house.

I intend to have this system on my barns and out buildings so I can turn the lights on from the fob when I drive in

      Thanks

You don't need a wise box to do that.
There are cheaper solutions out there that can do similar. We recently used a 4channel remote control box as a gate opener and use the other 3 channels for lighting control. The box cost 65 euros with 2 fobs.
