    Energy Monitors from Utility Companies

    Hi all,

Just found out that E.ON like other companies are offering free energy monitors so I've signed up for one. Does anybody know if they are just rebranded devices?

If anbody is looking to buy a CurrentCost or something, perhaps this is an alternative?

I think they are re-branded current cost meters.

As toscal says, last I knew they were CurrentCost meters with the EON badge - I would say by now they are the CC classic with the history output, BUT you could end up with the original version that only output the instant data (thats the version I got from Southern Electric)

        Research

Based on what's been said here I have deduced that the Energy Fit offering by EON at least, is the CurrentCost Envi. I can't believe they're giving them out for free

They're also compatible with Google PowerMeter.. if that interests anybody.

British Gas are also giving smart meters away - not sure what brand they are... does anyone know? You can see a picture of it here.

            not quite free :

... they'd have to cover the cost somehow, surely ?

When I signed up for EON's EnergyFit I got the latest CurrentCost unit, the Envi R, which was a pleasant surprise!
