Yes - I've seen this. I totally understand the principals - but don't get the electronics. This is the bit I need an "Idiots" guide for.

I "Get" that a sensor can detect either reflected 'light' from a silvered numeric on a gas meter, or detect the pulses from a blinking LED on a 'leccy meter - I just don't "Get" the electronics to hook this up to an Idratek module . .
    Nobody help with this?

Sorry its taken a while to compile something. It isn't exactly an idiot's guide but hopefully might point out some of the important considerations. Use link: http://www.idratek.com/public/docs/g...onnections.pdf

    Maybe I am just being dense - but I really am looking for an idiots guide here - a total step by step instruction of;

    1) You'll need an XYZ dooflop
    2) Connect pin 1 to input A
    3) Connect pin 2 to input 2
    4) Point the dooflop at the moon and stand well back.

I'm just not familiar with electronics, resistances etc and don't want to blow anything up.

Software is my 'bag' not electronics.

    Hope someone can help.

    Cheers

    Cliff

    Cliff,

I'm trying to find something as well, preferably commercial that I can just attach and grab pulse output from, or failing that simple to follow instructions. In searching and going off on tangents I did come across this commercial offering and have sent an email for more info:

    Saveometer
    http://saveometer.com/gas_monitor.aspx

The following is a group of enthusiasts that seem to be working in this area, based on some of the other stuff they've done a detailed instruction set maybe forthcoming:

    Openenegymonitor.org
    http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/bu...ter-monitoring

Current cost also now appear to have a Gas monitoring system:

    HTH a little

    Paul
