Welcome Phil,
I have a Sonos system and would recommend it. I have a mixture of hard wired and wireless ones. (The wireless ones are still wireless because I haven't had time to wire them yet)
Just installed 3 WD TV Live players. Inexpensive and fit on the end of the Cat5.
The two systems above link back to a 2TB NAS.
I agree with most of the comments made so far:
1. Put loads of cabling in first - I wish I had.
2. Plan your projects
3. Finance the projects
4. Post your experience on here so we can all learn
I sometimes have trouble getting past step 3 due to spousal issues!
Although almost everything I have installed gets the thumbs up - eventually.
Apart from BT vision, the Sony e-reader, the potable child finder!, etc.
