Info on systems

Is there anywhere, on the internet, a comparrison of differnt home automation systems? I just want to know there basic method of opperation, availablity (inc. Range of components/modules) cost and any advantages and disadvantages?

The other thing I would be inerested in is any schematics, or specialised components (ie uart converters etc.) for the various systems for home brew projects?
