Tog Rating of carpets for underfloor heating.

We are having a wet underfloor heating system installed in our house powered by a ground source heat pump. We are being given differing advice about the tog rating of carpets. We like good quality carpets, but the better the quality the higher the tog rating. Some sites say up to 3 tog including underlay some say 1.5 tog. Our plumber pulled out the brochure for our underfloor heating and it says 2 tog for underlay and carpet. We are only having 2 rooms out of 5 carpeted downstairs, would it matter if we went above the recommendations?

we looked at this, and came to the conclusion that carpet was not the answer - ie: heating efficiency depends on small temperature differences & good heat conduction, meaning we've gone for ceramic tiles everywhere except the stairs, where safety considerations dictate we have carpet ...

You are right of course having carpets does defeat the object of under floor heating. However one room will hardly ever be used, that's' the dinning room.
So it's just the lounge that is an issue. I do like a nice Wilton carpet.

Can anybody advise ......when working outtog rating for underfloor heating.... do you add the value of the tog rating ofthe carpet to the tog rating ofthe underlay to achieve the overall tog ratingor do you just use the highest?
