MiniITX - audio problems

we're running Cortex on a VIA EPIA EK10000G MiniITX PC, and can't get more than a beep out it ...

Windows / Start / My Computer / Control Panels / Sounds ... / ... Properties says there's No Audio Device ...

and yet, we thought, the MiniITX came with on-board audio capability ...

certainly, there are Line In & Line Out sockets on the back !

seems like we're missing something ...

any clues, please - anyone succeeded with a MiniITx ?

I think there might be something in the bios or in the windows control panel.
ON my m-itx I have 3 audio socket on the back. The green ones are normally audio out. And the pinkish or red one is for mic in.
Also check for any jumper settings for onboard audio.
Have you plugged in any Usb audio device.

I believe that toscal is correct.

I seem to recall that the audio subsystem on my EPIA mini-ITX board needed to be enabled in the BIOS - otherwise there was no audio device available and the previous version of Cortex wouldn't run.

yep, many thanks - sorted !

ie: we'd done all the Windows & BIOS settings a while back, but it also needed an extra audio driver to be loaded (!) ...

something the description led us to believe was an enhancement option, rather that basic facility provider ...

ie: something called VinylDeck that, when loaded, puts what looks to be something between a Boombox / DJ desk onto the desktop ...

that can however be put away, while also enabling Cortex to speak ...

so, our MFP is now speaking its temperature & the time ...
