@ chris_j_hunter my thoughts exactly.
if we were starting again, we'd be very tempted by Loxone + EnOcean - could get it going now, while in rented accom', and take it with you & extend in own-place using wired or wireless, as suits ...

Hi -
hmm, tempted isn't quite the same as go-with ... but the self-powered / energy harvesting aspect of EnOcean is a big plus-point, and Loxone appears to offer compatibility, and so a way to use it ...
background info' on EnOcean here :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EnOcean
SFAIK, its protocol is not directly accessible, but these look to provide a way in :
http://fhem.de/fhem.html
http://www.agocontrol.com/about/
as also Loxone :
http://www.loxone.com/Pages/en/
OTOH, an approach based on EnOcean would likely be expensive and, in the end, need a lot of work to get it working smartly - ie: intelligently, with minimal need for manual intervention ...
intelligence & breadth & protocol & affordability & support were big plusses for Idratek, and were the reason we (ultimately) went with them - but it is a wired system !
HTH

Now with the availability of the Enocean radiator valves a Loxone based system looks even more tempting.
Anyone know how much those valves cost.
