Energy monitoring via RF

Time of the year to consider a new project.... I want to monitor has meter which is outside and I would prefer avoiding wiring. I am quite keen on the openenergymonitoring stuff but I "must" have cortex reading the info as well. Any suggestions for a simple RD bridge between the optical pulse from the measuring to the digital module? I would prefer something already made or with simple soldering diy skills.
