    Which approach?

I've been given my little project some thoughand research recently, however I have some questions I thought I'd tap into guys with some experience...

Innitially the idea is to distribute audio from a streaming server to 4 rooms. The servers will be in the garage, however it would be a pain to route all the Cat5 back to the garage so I plan to piggy back onto the existing Coax/TV points and pull the cables through into the loft and link the garage with the loft via wireless.

    Would this work?

The other question I have is regarding Kat5. I've read the whole site and can still not figure out how this (http://www.kat5.tv/images/patchable_system.gif) works! When you have two sources and 4 receivers:

    a) What decides who get signal A or B (is it physically patched on the panel?)
    b) Where/how does signal A get split to say receiver 1 and 2?

Finally, I plan to have a switch in the loft and the garage linked over Wireless. Will this mean that this (http://www.kat5.tv/images/patchable_system.gif) will not work if the source is in the garage?

    I hope this made sense...
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Diego,

"A" - the required source is physically patched to the room required.

"B" - you cant split the signal to two rooms. If you need to feed a signal to two rooms then you need to wire it in Multidrop configuration where receivers are daisychained. (http://www.kat5.tv/daisychain.html)

It DEFINATELY wont work because KAT5 is not Ethernet based. It does not stream audio and video, it uses the physical medium of CAT5 cable to carry balanced audio and video signal over long distances with no loss of quality.

    Hope that helps
