    HR92 fitting - fitting

    Hi All,

Do the HR92's need to be fitted on inlet pipe? I have read somewhere that it doesn't mater which side it goes on.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I am no plumber but I think that the answer lies in the age of the valve fitting itself. Some older valves are uni-directional whereas newer valves are bi-directional. 'Uni's are normally fitted on the inlet side of the radiator but it matters not for the 'bi's. The HR92 is not an issue: it just needs a suitable TRV fitting to do its thing.

I am sure that a more technical reply is just around the corner.

Thanks for the info, I have bi-directional valves but there was one rad in a funny location for fitting on the inlet. I have fitted on the other side and it appears to be working ok so far.

      Thanks again.

Your information is very good, no more technical advice needed!

Only thing I will say is that although the HR92's will fit most TRV's, if they are old (15 years +) then consider getting these replaced. TRV's do a lot of work over the years and just like anything will not last reliably forever!
