    Upgrade CM Zoning to Evohome

My CH system is a boiler feeding 3 zone valves

Zone 1 – hot water still connected to original CH timing clock – works well no need to change
Zone 2 – central heating 13 rads in all 11 of them fitted with HR80 TVRs split into 4 zones with 2 CM67z controllers both bound to a HC60NG which controls the zone valve – all works well but would like more control especially of bedrooms
Zone 3 – single loft room with UFH controlled by battery powered wall mounted programmable thermostat (Heatmiser PRBT) wired to the zone valve– would like to integrate this into Evohome

Can I simply replace the 2 CM67zs with an Evohome controller and bind it to the HC60NG?
What would I need for the loft UFH – presumably the single zone thermostat will need a BDR91 as would a DT92 or is there something else that could be integrated?

    Cheers, Andy

How is the UFH dealt with after the zone valve? Is there a traditional UFH manifold, blending valve, and manifold pump? If so you could control it all from a single Evo although both heating zone valves would need to be operated together (you would use the UFH BDR in place of the existing manifold wiring centre thermostat) as Evo only supports a single heating demand relay which all of your room demands (both rads and UFH) will be sent to.

If you prefer to keep the UFH and rads demands separate then use an Evo for the rads and hot water, and add the new Single Zone Thermostat for the UFH. You can also add gateways to either or both for control from the Honeywell App.

North of the UFH valve is what looks like a standard CH pump and then the blending manifold. The only wiring is to the pump nothing to the manifold.
No sure what you mean in the first scenario
In the second presumably the single zone thermostat would control a BDR which would open the zone valve but ? This can't be bound to the Evo if there is one for the rest of the CH.
Are 2 gateways required in this situation or could the Evo and the SZT be linked to the same one allowing control via the same app?

      thanks for your help

The issue with Evo (like most multi-zone control systems) is that it assumes that all of the room heating is fed from the same heating source, so if you have a mixture of rads, UFH, and even electric heating, then any/all of the heating room demands will be sent to the Boiler Relay/Heating Relay. So if your UFH manifold feed is taken off the radiator circuit then this works fine as you need the main zone valve to pen when the UFH zone valve calls for heat. However if the two zone valves are fully independent of each other (so running the UFH does not require the rads zone valve to operate at the same time) then this will not work properly if all zones are set up on the Evo. This is why I suggested the Single Zone Thermostat for the UFH zone as this allows the heating demands for the Evo/Rads and SZT/UFH to remain independent and operate correctly.

The RFG100 can be registered to Evo or SZT, but not both at once, so if you want both to be accessible, from the App you would need two RFG100 units.

          Thanks
So downstairs rads no problem - new Evohome controller and I'm good to go - add in RFG100 and can use iPad/ phone as well if required

Upstairs UFH not so easy - SZT + BDR ( wired to zone valve?) but can't link to Evo or SZT + BDR + second Rfg100 and can use through ipad/phone (on the same app?)

Unless we do some re plumbing ....

          Cheers Andy
