my time on this forum, a belated Hello!

Just a quick note to clarify my contributions on this forum.
Since joining I have enjoyed contributing and discussing various topics including evohome. It is a great forum and its great to be able to engage with you all.

As with all forums, intentions and posts can sometimes be misunderstood, I am happy to have a lively debate. When it becomes personal it is no fun.

My intention is simply to help and offer advice, freely, where possible, based on my personal experience.

I am not able to speak 'for Honeywell', if you need a formal response please contact Honeywell directly.

I work for Honeywell. Any posts I make are purely to help if I can. Any personal views expressed are my own.

    Thanks
I work for Resideo, posts are personal and my own views.

It is all very useful. Learned far more here than the manual even gets close to disclosing. A learning curve for Honeywell perhaps is to realise they are dealing with individual customer end users and not businesses who may rely on a serviceman to do it all for him. The design of the app, the thought behind the controller and the lack of important information points to that. As if they are the odd bits we don't need to know about rather than the very bits we do.

It's a great system and this is one of the better forums for the exchange of information and where the expertise of the experts is much appreciated.

Plus I have really played with my system these last few days having guests here for the first time since installing. The individual control of each zone (well each room in my case) has been tremendous. Some frustration though at the severe limitations in the app (and the controller) with the inflexibility of the quick action menus and having only one customisable menu plus that if you forget to switch it off runs for 24 hours or more. I have put set points in to protect some of that.

Have said it elsewhere, I have a much better temperature balance in the house, far better control. Not had a gas bill I can compare with previous though. Probably soon as have just changed from BG to Sainsbury's as for gas and electric they £312 p.a. cheaper than BG. Yet Sainsbury's are supplied by BG!!!! But then our energy suppliers are not for this forum!

I will take the hit. My use of the word arrogant was to convey my annoyance about your belief that 'most buy a product based on what it does today'. I should have used a less provocative word.

I am, though, still confused about your role and that of the excellent Rameses. If, as you suggest, you are both giving freely of your time and not representing Honeywell then why was this thread on 'What would you like to see in Evohome' started?

If you look at Rameses' original post, it gives the very clear impression that the question was being posed on behalf of Honeywell in connection with the current Evohome system. This explains why current Evohome owners are somewhat dismayed to find that, having been asked for inputs, they will be getting very little back from Honeywell in return. Despite the excellent support that I have had from Honeywell, I, too, would now have difficulty in recommending the Evohome system and your specialist installer network to other potential buyers. The irony is that I did so yesterday and the person concerned is already asking for help on this forum.

          to quote Rameses
We do as much research and testing as possible - but there have been some good ideas here and we want to listen more - so . . if you want please post your top 3 (put more or less if you want) things you would want to see in evohome. Whilst we cannot promise it will be done, we promise to listen.
sorry to hear that you feel mislead about updates on the evohome central controller, as I have attempted to explain there have been no updates promised or applied to date. This does not mean that there will no developments in the future, hence Rameses thread asking for your ideas.

I would also like to add that I have found this forum very useful and people to be very patient. I am the sort of person that likes to know exactly how things work, which often entails me repeating back how I have interpreted something to check. Just because I have asked, say, some intricate questions doesn't mean that I am going to start fiddling with a screwdriver and swapping wires around.

I may sometimes come across as the 'dumb blonde' but sometimes it needs someone to ask the obvious questions - without this forum I wouldn't have had the confidence to delve into the menus on the HR92s or the installer menu on the controller. I have got far more out my Evo than I thought when I had it installed BUT it was an investment and I would like to think that I will get a good few years from it. I have far more confidence in this than I have with my LightwaveRF stuff.

I won't ask if you are blonde! I think I probably qualify for that albeit of the wrong *** and my hair is grey! Its only a few weeks back that I learned from this forum that you can turn the whole top on the HR92 to adjust the temperature and menu items! I thought you had to take it off!
