    Cat5/cat twist ratio

Can any one tell me how necessary it is to keep the original twist ratio of the pairs when terminating Cat5e/Cat6. I’m asking because I have great problems stopping say my Green’s twist from just falling apart when it comes to cable tying modules. Things would be alot easyer if I could put a heaver twist in it.

You can safely add a tighter twist.

The twists vary between pairs in the cable to prevent crosstalk, which would happen if two pairs had exactly the same twist pitch.

When terminating the cable, a tighter twist will cause far less disturbance than having some loose or untwisted cable.
