I have to say that I'm not encouraged. It sounds like it is difficult to find an installer who has proper expertise to do an installation. And what about post-installation support?

People are suggesting going down the DIY route, because that way I would get to understand the system, especially if I hit a snag later. However that seems an odd approach for what would otherwise appear to be a design that is aimed at consumers.

The DIY route is tempting and whilst I'm good at following instructions, I have little or no electrical or plumbing skills. Supposing for example, that when I went to do the apparently simple task of replacing the first TRV, I got stuck or found it a fiddle and wasn't sure if I had done it correctly?

I'm finding it difficult to spend say, £800 on something that I might not be able to fit myself, or find someone reliable to do it for me.

Sorry to be negative, but that's what I'm concluding from these helpful comments.
Honeywell are doing their best to get Connected Specialists in all areas, but we do try and cater for your situation as much as we can - we can support 'normal' installers through the evohome process and can even do all the evohome pre-binding for you for a small fee to simplify the installation even further.

I would hate for you to be put off what is a great system for the fact local people near you haven't got the knowledge. You can look through the Trust Pilot feedback on our website should you need evidence of the people we go the extra mile for with evohome.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to give us a call between 8:30am and 5:30pm.

    Thanks,

    Richard.

I'm in Pollokshields in the southside, and whilst I've been recommend a heating specialist to get in touch with would really appreciate any other recommendations.

I'd also like to thank everyone for their help on this post - I've only signed up for the forum recently as I try to figure out how best to install Evohome and have been really impressed with with everyone taking time out of their day to get back to people. It's great to see.

Any heating installer should be able to fit the wireless relay. It's an everyday item.

          Try this chap:

          Email address is rannochservices@ntlworld.com
          Phone 01419427822
          Mobile 07860177053

Danny Panesar. Not sure if he has attained full specialist status yet, but he is a top notch boiler man and has experience with Evohome. I've known him on and off for a decade or more.

TB - if Specialists are thin on the ground across the boarder, he would be a good man to encourage - perhaps a little friendly nudge to Lou?

As a satisfied Evohome Shop customer I can confirm the excellent service - pre-sale and post-sale that Richard and his team offer to anyone wishing to install an Evohome kit in areas where Honeywell Connected Specialists are not available. Others here have posted that for wiring of the relay any heating installer should be competent to carry out this task, it is basically the same as any basic timer.

Don't let this get out - but a timer is just a relay .

Thanks Dan for the clarification, what I meant to say that wiring the Bdr91 relay for the boiler was similar to wiring a basic timer.

Can second that. I purchased my system through The Evohome Shop and found that my OpenTherm bridge had a manufacturing defect. They sent out a replacement part in the post within a couple of days and saved me from having to return the entire bridge for replacement.
