Hi All
Just thought i would mention that i have been working on a temp sensing probe using the Dallas 1820 temp sensor...The idea is to be able to connect a dallas ds1820 to either probe5 or probe 6 of a Probe Zone Box .
The Probe system detects if a temp sensor is connected to probe 5 or 6 on any of the 8 zones and reports the temp (currently .5 degree tolerence) via the serial interface in reponse to a status request....
Still some more testing to do as im not sure what length of cat5 this will reliably work on..But if it works it means that i can free up one cat5 cable per room which is currently used for temp sensors...as i have a probe zone box in each room at present monitoring tv,s and dvd players etc....

Will do ...Its looking good , have a test sensor connected to 50m of cat5 cable and its working fine ..just need to order some ds 18s20 sensors and install them....these are 9 bit sensors and later i might have a look at incorporating the ds18b20 which is a 12 bit sensor......

Just a little update...
Have now installed several sensors around the house and also on my test Probe system....Im using xPL to read the status of the temp sensors (ds18s20) every 15 minutes and its all working quite well...
Im comparing the readings against the TOM10 temp sensors and they are normally within 1 degree C ....
I had 2 sensors connected to my test Probe system and they were approx 4 inches apart and there was 1 degree C difference in temp....I have now tied them together and now they both read the same temp ....maybe explains why Im getting different readings between the TOM10 and my Probe temp sensors.
