Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
it's a securelinc that has the ability to send x10 commands... i'm new to all this stuff so you'll have to forgive my ignorance (at times). a salesman sold me on a boatload of home security and home automation gear then abandoned me.
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
If your alarm can't do an "all off" command you could buy a CM12 and create a "macro".
You'd then need the alarm to send out a single command - for example D1 ON.
The CM12 Macro would receive this and then fire off the macro which could be do your all lights off, or even give you a timer to allow you to leave before the lights go off.
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
that would work! the alarm panel can def send a command to one (or multiple if i set them individually) device so this should do the trick... how much is one of these CM12's?
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
ok so essentially this is a timer (i'll need the USB version). can you explain to me basically how it will work? i will send a command from the alarm panel - like a B2+On then what?
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
Its more than a timer. It has "logic". So if it receives a command from your alarm it can then send out a "macro" that you have created with its included "ActiveHome" software.
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
what if i have "homeseer" software (that i haven't learned how to use yet)... will it do the same thing? or does activehome program the macro into the device so you don't have to have your computer on?
Re: noob: can i send an "all off" from my securel
Ah, you have HomeSeer
Yes, this will do exactly what you want (with the PC ON). They used to sell a small additional application that allowed you to download macros to the X10 interface so you could switch off. I'm not sure if they still do that.
