To put it into context it's 9.5mm thick and 33mm in diameter.
Battery life ? Available in white ?

But yes, tiny and discrete is what I had in mind. There's no real need for them to be as big as the Honeywell ones are when there is no display and no user buttons.

    Got some more info..

With a sample frequency of every 5 seconds battery life is > 1year.
Yes it's available with a white cover.

I talking to the manufacturer currently.

If it's readable from Domoticz (z-wave?) you can bind it as a zone sensor there.

Ahh - BLE. I'm not sure that's the best option for something that needs to deliver a fairly continuous feed.

Also, the range will be quite short.

Sample frequency or transmission frequency ?

If the latter, I wonder how Honeywell only manages a 1-2 year battery life with a sample/transmission frequency of at least 4 minutes ?

Well, they have a high torque motor too, and a micro controller running the PID algorithm. I assume it samples more frequently but only transmits status (and listens for updates from the controller) periodically.

Ok, not the actual device I'm looking at there.

Every 5 seconds is more than adequate for environmental control, we're not after close control of the environment (sorry room).

BLE 4.2 comes with significant range improvements, indeed the quoted range is 50m, so adequate for most homes I'd suggest.

The spec says the battery lasts 9-12 months, but the default logging is only hourly.

Yes, but not the one that you're looking at.
