Default Preparing for Evohome L shaped room advice please

    20170809_081455.jpg

So the kitchen/diner is L shaped with the kitchen the larger and the dining the skinny off shoot.

Radiators are placed as indicated, the kitchen one in fairly close proximity to the proposed oven location.

The kitchen is north facing, the dining areas south facing but with a smaller window.

    Should I:

Treat the rooms as a zone, if so which radiator to bind first?
Treat the rooms as a zone and install a thermostat to control it if so place it where?
Treat the room as 2 zones and let the TRVs sort things out?

    Any help/ideas appreciated.

I have a large open-plan downstairs which I treat as three zones. You'd think it would all even out, but across a 65ft space I find it's quite possible to maintain a temperature gradient of a few degrees.

Although mostly, for me, it's about scheduling to ensure that the most used bits of the space heat up first.

    Useful thanks.
Think I'll start as two zones and see how it goes.

Set the zone as a multi room zone.

But ONLY if you don't want a temperate gradient across the space.

    Like I do.

(Although I suppose you could 'hack' that with offsets on the HR9s - not as controllable, though).

Bear in mind you can't use wall thermostats with a multi-room zone, so you might actually lose comfort by just making the 1 cu.ft of space around the TRV comfortable!

If I could choose one change to make to Evohome it would be either this or more zones.

Yes I think it would be good to sit and eat in a warmer area than you cook in.

We have a large lounge with radiators at either end. I have actually divided the lounge into two zones. It allows the area near our couch to heat up in advance of the area furthermost from where we sit. And then in the night I reverse the schedule and make the area near the couch set back last. Works quite well.
