    EvoHome issues

    Hi all

I have had EvoHome installed today and I’m having a few issues.

I have two zones with two radiators.

One single room zone and one multi room zone.

In both, when the heat turns on, only one radiator is getting hot. The other stays stone cold. You can hear the actuator move, but just no heat.

    Can anyone please help?

    Thank you
    Kam.

I assume that you are talking about the HR92 whirring? It may be that the HR92 is not sitting on the TRV body properly. What type of TRV body do you have? Some more information about the configuration of your system would be helpful.

As HenGus says, check the HR92 is sitting right on the black disc thing.

Also, do your valves need adaptors, and if so do you have the right ones?

Do the rads heat up if you take the HR92 off and manually open by turning the black disk to the left (you'll need the pump running during this test)?

Also worth trying with the full stroke setting enabled.

Chances are the trv is jammed, test the system as above.

          Hi,

          Thanks for all the replies.

The trv was jammed, loosening a little and now all is good.

Except, I have my controller wall mounted and I keep getting 'mains low' fault message, any idea on how to get rid of it?

Remake the Electrical connections. You have a loose wire.

You say you "have had evohome installed" which implies that someone else did it for you.
If so, and you paid someone to perform a relatively simple task, I would have them return and stand over them until the system is working properly.
If I have misunderstood then I'm sure you will sort you problems out quickly. As I said it's relatively simple.
              Good luck.

Not quite so clear cut as that. So I would check the attitude of standing over the tradesman.

The stuck trv is not a fault of the installation and is a pre+existing condition. I know a couple of people that professionally install the stuff but are not equipped for "wet work". It simply may not have been part of the remit. Granted, a company 6 like mine would have spotted and fixed it there and then.

With the lose wire, it is something that might not show up straight away. Mine does this periodically. First time was months after it was fitted.

So, in short, before "standing over tradesmen like they're naughty school boys.... Be sure of one's facts.

One of the issues with old TRV bodies and HR92s is that exercising the pin may not be a long-term solution. I had all the TRV bodies on my system replaced earlier this year. In previous years, I would always go around the house and exercise the TRV pins before the CH came on full time. Even after doing that, I found that the odd TRV would open with an audible clunk.

                    Hi all,

                    Thanks for all the replies.

I have spoken to the installer, he is going to install a new wall mount

I would seriously consider paying you to come to Lincolnshire to fit a new boiler when mine or my son's expires.

It is mine and my family's recent experience that you are regrettably in a minority and that
many so called tradesmen don't give a proverbial.

Hence my somewhat jaded response which I am sure resonates with many others.

Precise location depending, we're not adverse to travelling.

I can imagine how you feel, we see all sorts of abominations left by tradesmen (and DIY'ers). Today was a great case. 9 weeks to install (poorly) and expensive boiler that should have taken 5 days.

Going to cost the customer £4k to put right when it would have been £2.5k at the time to do correctly first time round.
