Honeywell Lyric
It appears Honeywell have achieved what was the impossible and invented a Tardis that works. An email today promoting their Lyric system takes me to a web page that says
“thanks to Honeywell’s smart trusted technology, it starts recording five seconds before an event happens”
Must be a new type of optimisation or is it optimism?!

It's always recording but only storing the data from 5 seconds before whatever it counts as an event happens.
Same as lots of dash cams.

Most powered security cameras work like this. It tends to be battery powered cameras (arlo, blink, etc.) that only start recording at (or often just after) the trigger point.
