Hi, Does anybody know of a touchscreen I can use in the bathroom? I want to be able to control a multi room audio/video system.

Not quite a touchscreen but Xantech do a waterproof wall mounted keypad.

        Re: waterproof touchscreen

There's a wide selection available if you search under "industrial monitor" or "industrial touch screen"

        Here's a couple of results:
        17.0" SXGA, $1500

Or this one from ProFace (17" again, but don't know the price)
        pro-face,proface,pro face,touch panel,graphic operator interface,panel computer,industrial PC,monitor,display,factory automation

Other companies like Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi all do similar products, but as all these are industrial-quality units don't expect them to be cheap.

The other thing to note is that while the front of the screensis rated for IP65 / NEMA 4, they are intended to be panel mounted so that the rear electronics is in a "dry" area. To mount in your bathroom you'd need to arrange for the screen to be mounted through a metal plate to protect the back from steam, moisture etc. I don't think just bedding it into the tiles is going to provide enough protection :-(

You then need a way of accessing the connections etc.

When searching you may also come across screens with PCs mounted behind. This may be another option to keep the whole system compact, although you'd have to work out whether it works out cheaper than an industrial screen and an ordinary desktop PC.

HTH, just shout back if you've got any questions :-)

        Cheers,

        Tim.

You can buy a laptop for a fraction of the price.
Whats the moste economical one about anyway ?

              Hi all,

we have developed a patented waterproof touch screen. This touch screen is basically a resistive touch with a thin micro glass laminated on top. One of the big benefits of this technology is the touchpanel gets 100% waterproof. You could even submerge it. That means you could build it in the bathtub or in the shower. The technology is preassure activated and works like a charm. If you are interested let me know. We have a special deal right now. If you build a unique solution we offer the touch screen for free. ( This is limited to 1 sample per project ). The only thing we request is a detailed project description + short video.

If you are interested please send me a email: kuehn@interelectronix.com

It is really robust. Though operating a touch screen with a hammer is not a good idea :-)
