It would be helpful if the information we now get in settings in the Control Panel, telling us which room or zone is calling for heat and how much, also appeared in the app.

Long press setting and look at the system summary, it gives you the percentage each room is calling etc.

Sorry but that is not the point I raised.

ooops... would help if I read to the end of the message... sorry.
ok I agree with you, I'd especially like to be able to grab that via the sdk so I could graph it along with the rest of the info you can get.

We all do that from time to time! In my view the app ought to provide us with the same information the control panel does. Whilst the app can at times be slow to load in it is a much easier experience than using the control panel to move around, check things, change settings. The panel is ponderous. A touch panel but it needs lots of touch.

In my view, the app tries to get away with the least it needs to, to be classed as a smart remote thermostat. The issue Resideo have is that any information stored on the app, costs them money for no return. There is so much of information available locally, where do you draw the line as to what is published. The Heat Demand isn't even considered important enough for the end user. Hence why the screen is hidden away in the Installer section.

1stly I really like being able to control my central heating without having to rely on an internet connection and cloud support. I have a number of smart devices that would cease to function if the backend providers went out of business or the internet went down.
That aside i'd really like to be able to access all the information on the controller remotely.
It should be possible to have an advance tab to hide the extra info,
But some of that extra info is very useful, especially if using some of the smart features, in working out things like why your heater is still cold even though it's been 10 minutes since you turned the dial up.
Is it a boiler problem? Is it a communication problem between the controller and activator etc, and a quick look at what the controller thinks the demand is can help quickly diagnose the problem.
Maybe to make it more attractive to everyone, you could have a nice animating diagram or something.
    anyway....

I concur. It is an odd decision for the the app not have the info. There is no reason for the app not to have what is fairly basic information about the system and I am not convinced the cost for it to do that would be dramatic. An additional Advanced Options menu. There systems and products have such and it is no problem to them in doing that. We do get extras in the app though. Well I do. I have a ghost room that won't go away. I am waiting for Honeywell/Resideo to sort it.

I am firmly in the KISS camp and don’t need anything extra in the app and would be happy for the weather info to be removed as there are plenty of other, better? places that can be obtained. Extra features cost money, time and effort and need more justification than “wouldn’t it be nice”. One solution, adopted by some app developers, would be to have a basic free version and more features provided by a paid for advanced version either a one off cost or subscription.

Having recently replaced my boiler and installed OpenTherm in my case the one bit of additional informative I would like to see in the app is the system data that tells me what room, including the OT Bridge, is drawing what. As I monitor the new system to see how it learns and balances I find this information useful to check but it is not practical to keep going off to the panel to look and I can’t take the panel around the house with me as the batteries only last 10 to 15 minutes.
