During heating season there is often a slug of hot water in the heat exchanger DHW waterway due to there being a combined CH and DHW heat exchanger design on Intergas boilers.

In summer months the ECO setting would make a difference.
Personally, I have it set to off as there is a delay in water moving along the pipe from the boiler to distant taps that preheating the water will never cure. This also reduces wear cycles on the boiler.
