Problem binding Evohome HR92

I took delivery of an Evohome system this morning and decided to start by setting a basic single zone configuration on the central controller, bound to a single HR92. No BDR91 has been installed so far and the HR92 is not yet fitted to a radiator.

There were no problems getting the central controller up and running but my repeated attempts to bind to the HR92 have only ever been partially successful. On each occasion, the controller tells me almost immediately that the binding has completed successfully but the LCD panel on the HR92 says 'Binding' for several more minutes before it then says 'Failed'.

What might I be doing wrong? How do get the binding process to fully complete?

Problem now solved

I had been using the single Living Room zone that came preset in my controller. Shortly after making the above post, I decided to start from scratch and create 3 new zones. After that, the binding process worked perfectly.
