Which modems can I use for Caller ID (Pace)??
Do I need to get a Pace modem or will a USR one do?
Can someone list a few models of modem that are known to work as I have a box of modems at home - both internal and external.
Many thanks.

This might help. UK Caller ID is a bit of a mess - you have to check serial numbers, model numbers is no guarantee, especially with the USR ones. Or get a Meteor from Crucible.

The zoom pci modem that PC world tend to have supports BT style caller id.
Make sure it has "3025 C" on the side of the box though (The C bit means it's the correct Conexant chipset).
Note that the hcflinux driver for this doesn't support UK CLI though. (Works fine with Windows though).

Is there an AT command I can send to the modem to see if a particular modem is likely to work?
I have a box of modems so i'll have to work my way through them.
Many thanks.

hi, I currently got some caller id box for pcs, it can distribute id number directly to your pc via USB which is designed for BT landline. the software is completly free and you can make your own applications using this software. (u can use VB6, Delphi5, VC6, C++Builder5,VFP6,PB6,etc.)
