    IR7243 with Pronto 940

    Hi,

I have just recently got hold of a pronto RU940. I don't think it has an RF transmitter on it so am looking for a way of controlling some X10 stuff..

Will the IR7243 do the job? All I am looking to control at the moment is a couple of appliance modules and maybe an X10 thermostat a little down the line.

If this is the best way to go, how do I program the pronto to control the X10 gear??

    Thanks
    Paul

Yes the IR7243 will do the job, using IR alone.

As long as you have line of site you'll be fine.

If not, I beleive Pronto's can send codes using RF, and interpret them on the IR7243 using a Pronto specific RF-> IR blaster.

        Take a look here : http://www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm?id=1049

Not sure if this is specifically compatible with your model. Have a dig around and see what you find.

          Re: IR7243 with Pronto 940

          Hello,

I have a Pronto 940 they are a little old now and are indeed IR only. I'm pretty sure the RF blaster is for the new Prontos only.
Even though the 940 is old it's still an excellent piece of kit and I wouldn't be without it !
But as for your original question.....
If you download the ccf file at this link

It contains all the codes you need for the pronto to control x10.
Merge this ccf file with your existing pronto config. It will place several panels in your macro group. All these panels contain x10 commands.
Remember to put in delays between each x10 command so it has time to be processed by the IR7243. I use a delay of 0.5 seconds.

For example say your running the IR7243 on house code A.
You want to turn on a device on A1.
Use this list of actions on a button:

          x10 Unit Codes 1
          delay 0.5
          x10 command codes on

I hope this makes sense, it sounds more complicated than it really is.
Should you have any problems PM me your email address and I'll send you my CCF file and you can see how I have done mine.

          Good Luck !

            Hi there,

Thanks for all the info.. yeah, my Pronto is IR only so the blaster wont do the job.

Thats fine tho as I am only looking for control of things in one room (maybe a second room later on)

Dazman - PM on its way.

            Cheers
            Paul
