    Hot water over-rided room theromstat

    Can anyone help me?
I have a gas fired boiler that is used for heating and hot water.
If I put on the hot water only, it is fine.
If I put on heating only, it is fine.
If both are on, and a bath is run, the water is VERY slow to warm up, but the radiators get VERY hot.
The room thermostat has no control over the boiler.

It this the 3 way valve sticking?

Are there any checks I can do to diagnose the problem?

    Thank you.
    John.

could be sticking, if tour 3 way valve has a lever on the side to manualy open it, try that.

      It is a Honeywell.
Watching the 3 way valve it is not doing as I would expect, but I may be wrong.
When Hot water only is selected the valve moves to heat only the water. It seems to be pulled into this position by the springs.
When Central heating only is selected, the valve is moved by the motor staying in this position. The boiler is controlled by the thermostat.
When both are selected the valve moves to the position it adopts when CH is selected and stays there. I would expect it to move away from this position when the room thermostat calls for no more heat, but is does not.
The result is that if the system is trying to heat the water the radiators get very hot, but the water takes ages to heat up.
