    AW12 Micro Module & x10 Floodcam

    Hi,

I am a newbie to this site and the X10 products and am looking for some advice ? I have recently bought the products above and am having a few issues. I just had my house rewired and was hoping to use the AW12 module to control some of the lights but it appears you need to pull in extra cables (N) to the sockets is this true ? or am I reading it wrong ? Is there any way around this ?

As for the Flood cam it appears to work apart from the reception is awful and the receiver has to be within about 2-5 ft from the camera to get a half decent picture. It also keeps switching on for no apparent reason every couple of minutes and I think the neighbours are getting a little irritated. Is there anyway to turn the sensitivity down ? or is it just me ?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Yours

    Jamie

yep they need a neutral wire these ones don't http://www.letsautomate.com/11608.cf...47A4350BE71F31

I am not familiar with the floodcam. I used to have some x10 cams and could never get a good picture, they are prone to interferance from some wifi and dect phones try unplugging other RF stuff to see if it improves.

Cheers for that do you know if there is a micro module that works with a standard single switch and not a momentary action switch ? I have just had everything re-wired and bought new sockets so don't want to have to replace any !

Unfortunately might have to ditch the Flood Cam have currently got Wifi and DECT and a couple of AV transmitters. Will stick with hardwired cameras i think any recomendations ?

No you have to use momentary.

        And a D-link IP cam

The AW12 appliance micro module can be used with a standard switch.

Oops I forgot about that. Naughty me, especially as I have just run neutral wires to most of my switches now.

I guess it depends on ones wiring but is it an easy job to run neutral wires to the light switches?

As you say it depends on your wiring. Apart from one switch (this has a LW12 (no neutral wire needed)), I was able to run neutral wires with relative ease.
You will need to buy a Cable Draw-in Tape, some times called a fish or mouse. Normally made of nylon, they are quite cheap. Oh and a friend, pulling cables by yourself is not an easy task. If you find a dificult cable then a small amount of washing up liquid applied to the cable as your pulling it through makes it easier. This is where the friend comes in handy. As one of you can push the cable and the other pulls it.

Think I am going to have to pass on the pulling in a new neutral not a great deal of room, maybe they will make a module that only uses two wires ?

Yep they do, but its only for lights. Its an LW12 micro module.

The LW12 still requires the switch to be changed though ! I was thinking last night I may be able to install it at the light instead of behind the switch ?
