Hi all,
I am in the process of re-wiring a house and have been asked to look into automation. Originally it was just about sending AV signals around the house then the phone then data. Done all that using a cat5 patch system.
But now, they are asking me about an affordable home security system.
I have had a look at the x10 system but these sites seem a little confusing, i dont want bulky connectors attached to the walls, is there a way of connecting the x10 components at the fuse box. What burglar alarm system do u recommend for use with this.
If one exists i would like camera PIR units (or seperates) which tie in to the system, a smart system which turns the lights on and off and notifies you on your mobile that the alarm has gone off. (Door/window contacts not neccessary) Also if they exist, smoke detectors that are hardwired to the electric that could also be tied in to the x10 system.
If affordable i would also like remote access via ip streaming from the pc of the cameras.
Please remember i am new to this and have no real idea how X10 slots together, so a guide to the technology would be GREAT!!
Also, i have wired (via the patch panel) the living room tv to the pc for the use of watching movies on Windows media centre. If there is anyway of taking advantage of this for the x10 stuff that would be great too!
Thx,
Louis
