Myson Marathon 40 pilot light will not stay lit

I'm new to this forum and hope there's someone who can remember this model. It's about 20 years old worked brilliantly until recently found pilot light out, tried to re-light without success. Have replaced thermo coupler but still she won't light. Any ideas please?

    Thanks.

there is an overheat button inside the case on a pipe,

    small red button,

    give it a press,

turn power to the boiler off, it's 240v

I know the boiler pretty well, but I cannot find the overheat button you refer to, I'm sure it doesn't have one. I have changed the thermocoupler but the pilot light goes out as soon as the button/valve is released.

The problem was the gas valve which needed to be replaced at a cost of £88 plus fitting. Should be good for another 20 years!

if its doing this when it has got up to temperature its probably the boiler stat,
is it doing this on water and heating or water only,
if it's doing it on water only it could be the cylinder stat,

Thanks guys! I had an idea and fired the boiler up by bypassing all the controls to see what happens and it seems to work ok! when I then bypassed the stat, still ok so I agree a new stat required!, but i am not optemistic I can get one for such a old model!

I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting one,
                  they're a common stat,
off the shelf at parts centre.
